Project Overview
- Why is there construction in and around Stanford Hospital & Clinics?
Stanford Hospital & Clinics is expanding and remodeling our facilities to a state-of-the-art health care center that better serves the community. The project features a new hospital that will integrate with the existing hospital and an expanded and enlarged Emergency Department. - Will the existing hospital and clinics remain open during construction?
Yes. In order to ensure that our community’s healthcare needs are met, both Stanford Hospital & Clinics and Packard Children’s Hospital will remain open and fully operational during construction. - What are some features of the updated Stanford Hospital & Clinics campus?
The updated campus will include additional single patient rooms, a new and expanded Emergency Department, larger operating rooms with space for new technology, a new parking garage, a rooftop garden and cafeteria. Existing facilities in the main hospital will also be upgraded as part of the project. - When will the project be complete?
Stanford Hospital & Clinics will begin to see patients in the new hospital facility in 2018, though construction will be completed in 2017. This interim time is needed to prepare the hospital and the staff for delivering patient care in the new facilities. - What other upgrades and changes are going on around the medical center campus?
The Stanford University Medical Center Renewal Project includes expanding and renovating Stanford Hospital & Clinics and the Emergency Department, renovating Hoover Pavilion, expanding Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and replacing School of Medicine facilities to accommodate modern technology.
