Elizabeth Polek
Administrative Director, Quality, Patient Safety & Effectiveness
Elizabeth Polek joined Stanford Hospital and Clinics in July 1998. In 2009, she assumed her role as the Administrative Director for Quality, Patient Safety and Effectiveness. The Administrative Director provides the overall leadership and direction for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, and Care Coordination. This position is responsible for implementation of the strategic goals and objectives which will result in both operational and clinical outcomes that are consistent with superior publicly reported and academic comparitive quality performance. This responsibility includes providing a planned, systematic, organization-wide approach to identifying, designing, measuring, prioritizing and monitoring all clinical effectiveness activities, including new processes, projects and services.
Prior to this role, Elizabeth was the Director of Care Coordination with responsibility over Social Work, Case Management, Care Coordination and Palliative Care. She has been involved in many of the hospital wide initiatives related to patient capacity and throughput, diversity, and the Family Abuse Prevention Council. Prior to this role at SHC, Elizabeth worked for seven years at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City as the supervisor of Social Work and Case Management.
Elizabeth completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at UC Santa Cruz and her Masters Degree in Social Work at San Diego State University in 1990. She is currently working on her MBA with anticipated completion in 2010.
