Current Research Interests
My particular area of research interest lies in using simulation methodology to understand the cognitive, technical and behavioral skills needed during neonatal resuscitation. CAPE contains a realistic hospital delivery room that includes both obstetric and neonatal patient simulators. A one-way mirror separates the delivery room from the control room where computerized control of the patient simulators, monitor drivers and digital video recording devices takes place. During my fellowship training, under the guidance of Dr. Lou Halamek, one of the pioneers in simulation-based research, I am using simulation for research in optimal learning methodologies for enhancing patient care and safety.
