B cells deficient in CD72 are hyperresponsive to stimulation through the B cell receptor.  We are examining the alterations in B cell signaling in these B cells and the mechanisms by which CD72 deficiency partially abrogates anergic tolerance. We use two model systems, Salmonella typhimurium and Francisella tularensis, to study the complex host-pathogen interactions. Our goals are 1. to understand how the matrix contributes both to normal wound healing and to immune dysregulation, such as that seen in asthma and autoimmunity, and 2. to devise novel strategies and tools to promote immune tolerance."}]}
