Specifically, I use natural products such as aconitine and batrachotoxin as molecular probes to identify key protein interactions that are responsible for the healthy behaviour of the channels. My emphasis is on the molecular interactions of inhalational anesthetics and alcohol. I perform computational chemistry simulations on how these molecules bind to putative receptor sites. I am also interested in modeling receptor proteins in which chimeras cause loss or enhancement of anesthetic sensitivity."}]}
