Current Research Interests
My research and teaching interest is in medical simulation. Simulation involves replicating real situations to achieve a specific goal. In healthcare, simulation has the potential to improve both patient safety and trainee education by providing a safe environment in which to practice. My current interests include:
1. Development and utilization of emergency manuals, or cognitive aids, for crisis management of critical events.
2. Teaching Supervisory experience to anesthesia residents via simulation - Director of Evolve simulation program
3. Utilizing high fidelity simulation along with debriefing to teach principles of Crisis Resource Management (CRM)
4. Improving formative feedback for trainees by applying methods adapted from education literature and organizational behavior.
