My primary doctor was booked months in advance, so I agreed to see Dr.Kenny instead. She was running late having two residents in training with her, so I was expecting a very short visit regarding my toenail fungus. She took the time to talk about my issue and did a through examination of my entire foot to ensure that it was an isolated toenail that had been infected. She also went over my entire medical record and questioned me about past procedures and about the medications I have been taking. She suggested an alternative to one of my medications and explained the pro and cons of taking one over the other to help me make an educated decision about the one I would choose to use. I found her to be informative and personable.

The first thing Dr. Kenny says when she walks in is "What can I do for you?" The comment threw me off balance because it does not express concern only that I have come to ask for something. Odd. From that point I was a bit uncomfortable and nervous about telling her what I came in for.

I'm older and used to more interaction - you know, like the doctor actually LOOKING at your body for moles or other irregularities. Physicians stare at the computer screen now. I realize that they have to update information, but it's very impersonal. My doctor is fine and no more guilty of this than any other, I'm just use to knowing my doctor and having a relationship with them.
