Current Research Interests
The use of ultrasound is rapidly expanding out of the fields of radiology and cardiology. Bedside ultrasound has already demonstrated its utility and advantages in patient care in emergency and critical care medicine, and in many other fields (cardiology in and outpatient, general medicine clinic...).
With technology advances, very small ultrasound devices providing excellent image quality are available to virtually everybody. The greatest challenge lies now in education and definition of the optimal use of bedside ultrasound. I have developped a specific training program including didactic lectures with a supporting website, a scanning learning method and a standardized evaluation of proficiency in bedside ultrasound.
I am currently involved in different research projects:
-interest of daily limited echocardiography in septic shock patients
-creation of heart sounds and echocardiography library
-prevalence and evolution of left ventricular systolic and diastolic function in patients with intra-cranial hemorrhage
