The Office of Emergency Management is a shared service between Stanford Hospital & Clinics and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital.  OEM is responsible for disaster mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery programs to ensure that the highest level of quality care and service to our patients is maintained during any type of disaster.

OEM's Mission:

  • Identify/develop/educate/exercise emergency management systems to provide for mitigation/ preparedness/response/recovery.
  • Ensure the hospitals maintain operational resiliency for business continuity and the highest level of quality care and service
  • Establish innovative best practices for Emergency Management within the community
  • Establish new standards for Emergency Management to be recognized as an community leader and advancing the field of Disaster Medicine

  • Ensure optimal quality patient care & safety

A number of sectors in our communities are preparing as well, including but not limited to, schools, community organizations, and other businesses. Although Stanford University Medical Center can respond to disasters, only you can prepare yourself and your household for emergencies.
