Menlo Medical Clinic's New, Second Location to Open December 7

DECEMBER 3, 2009

The neighborhood clinic just got bigger and better. Beginning Dec. 7, patients of Menlo Medical Clinic can access a second location at 321 Middlefield Road. The original Menlo Medical Clinic on Crane Street in Menlo Park remains open, but the addition of the Middlefield Road site will now provide more services to its patients.

New Menlo Medical Clinic facility
The new, state-of-the-art facility will bring more services to Menlo Medical, such as dermatology and family practice.

Menlo Medical Clinic, an affiliated clinic of Stanford Hospital & Clinics since 1993, has been Menlo Park’s community physician group and primary care service for over 60 years. “The strong working relationship between Stanford Hospital & Clinics and Menlo Medical Clinic will continue as Menlo Medical expands to its new location, and offers a gateway to care by Stanford faculty physicians” said Stanford Hospital Chief Medical Officer Kevin Tabb, MD. “We are thrilled that the Clinic will now have higher capacity, easier access, and more services for their patients.”

The new, 18,000-square-foot facility on Middlefield Road includes 32 exam rooms, additional laboratory and x-ray services, and ample parking. An estimated 75,000 patients will be seen at the new location in 2010 for primary care and outpatient surgical procedures.

“Our facility was busting at the seams,” said Menlo Medical Clinic Chief Operating Officer Jerry Harris. “To better serve our community, we’ve hired more physicians, upgraded our diagnostic and treatment equipment, and expanded the size of our Clinic. In conjunction with Stanford Hospital and Clinics, we have also implemented an electronic medical records system that will allow for smoother transactions for patients and staff.”

Two new services will be offered at the Middlefield Road facility: dermatology and family practice.  Other services, previously provided at the Crane Street location, will be moving to the new facility: obstetrics & gynecology, ear, nose and throat, gastroenterology, radiology and audiology.

Patients will immediately notice the warm earth tones that decorate the walls of the new complex on Middlefield Road, the natural light that pours into the hallways, and the efficient design of the space. Waiting times for appointments will be improved with the addition of a weigh station in the center of the Clinic, instead of in patient rooms. New technology, such as digital mammography, a laser dermatology machine, and flat screen monitors in OB/GYN rooms for viewing ultrasound images, will improve the patient experience.

“From floor to tables, we’ve included brand new equipment throughout the facility,” said Harris. “Our next goal is to renovate our center on Crane Street to match the quality and esthetics of our new location. Parking at our current location will be greatly improved with the shift of some of our medical services to 321 Middlefield Road.”

The Menlo Medical Clinic on Crane Street, one and a half miles from the new Middlefield location, includes the following services: allergy, cardiology, nutrition, endocrinology, general surgery, internal medicine/primary care, ophthalmology, orthopaedics/orthopaedic surgery, pediatrics, podiatry, rheumatology, and Executive Health.
