The Emergency Department Call Back Nursing Team at Stanford Hospital & Clinics was named on Monday as the winner of ADVANCE for Nurses magazine's annual "Best Nursing Team Contest" for the Northern California/Northern Nevada region.

In celebration of National Nurses Week, May 6-12, ADVANCE presented the award in the spirit of teamwork, initiative and adaptability.

"Nurses work hard for their patients, their facility and their coworkers. By celebrating the nursing teams who read our magazines, we aim to do our part in honoring the everyday heroes who keep our nation healthy and safe," said Linda Jones, editorial director of ADVANCE for Nurses. "We stand behind our mission to recognize their diligence and commitment to providing the best possible care."

The Emergency Department Call Back Nursing Team at Stanford Hospital & Clinics is featured on the cover of the May 5, 2008 issue.

Dozens of nursing teams from across the region submitted entry forms. A panel of three judges evaluated the entries by evaluating core team characteristics such as initiative, adaptability, teamwork, recruitment/retention and knowledge.

The Stanford Hospital & Clinics team was presented with an engraved plaque commemorating their first-place showing in the contest and will be treated to a special celebration chosen especially for them. Also, each member of the team received a commemorative certificate and ADVANCE gifts.

Each year, the ADVANCE for Nurses Best Nursing Team contest generates entries from units and facilities all over the regions served by the magazine.
