It's Not All in Your Head: Understanding Irritable Bowel Syndrome
IBS is perhaps the most common gastrointestinal syndrome affecting 10 - 20 percent of the population. However, its treatment remains difficult and many patients continue to suffer. Further contributing to this state of affairs is the common misperception about IBS being a so-called "psychosomatic" disorder. This talk will provide an update on the emerging science that is contributing to our understanding of this syndrome and setting the stage for new and more rational therapies.
