Treatment of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders
Many women suffer from mood and anxiety disorders during pregnancy, and an especially high prevalence of symptoms is observed during the postpartum period. Women with histories of psychiatric illness who discontinue psychotropic medications during pregnancy are particularly vulnerable. This talk will focus on the current understanding of the risks of prenatal and postnatal exposure to different types of psychotropic medications. In addition, alternative non-pharmacological treatment options for mood and anxiety disorders during the perinatal period will be discussed. Speaker: Katherine E. Williams, MD |
