Quitting smoking is not an easy task, and for many it may be a life-style, habit, or simply an unhealthy addiction. The Smoking Cessation Program at Stanford Hospital and Clinics focuses on giving the best health advice and words of encouragement for our patients to decrease their frequency of smoking.
The Program includes self-help materials, an advisory consultation and follow-up support after the hospital stay. This program is available to patients at no charge.
Some key points that the program emphasizes are:
- The causes of smoking
- Identification and control of smoking triggers
- Reasons to quit smoking
- Health benefits and useful resources
- Follow-up opportunities
“Giving up smoking is one of the biggest challenges to undertake; our goal is to assist our patients in accomplishing this achievement with cutting edge education and reliable support.”
—Angela Cherene, Director of Smoking Cessation Program
