HOME Apartments

The Flora Lamson Hewlett Apartments Housing of Medical Emergencies (HOME Apartments) is owned and operated by the Assistance League of Santa Clara County. The Assistance League is a philanthropic organization of volunteers and a chapter of the National Assistance League.

HOME is for out-of-town patients and families at Stanford Hospital & Clinics who need temporary housing while they undergo treatment for a week or more. The current 40-unit complex was opened in September 1987, and was funded by the Flora Lamson Hewlett Foundation, the Assistance League of Santa Clara County and individual donations.

Each HOME unit has a fully equipped kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave and blender. There are sheets, bedding, a TV and VCR in each one-bedroom apartment. Laundry facilities are available. A telephone and private number will be assigned to tenants, and the charges will be billed by the Stanford Communications Office.

Occupancy in these units is limited to two people -- a patient and a caregiver. No pets are allowed.

The number of HOME apartments is limited and unfortunately cannot be available for all patients and families that wish to reside there. Use of the HOME is coordinated by the Department of Social Work and Case Management at Stanford Hospital & Clinics. All applications are assessed and processed within this department, including a thorough financial screening. Please call the Department of Social Work and Case Management at (650) 723-5091.
