Recommended Courses:
The curriculum assigned to you covers the Epic functions that SHC has decided all providers in your specialty require. However, depending on your scope of practice, you may need one or more additional elective courses. Without these you will not be able to use Epic effectively and safely when providing patient care.
These recommended courses are listed in LMS in the assigned section of your home page, but displayed as “Recommended” instead of “Required.”
- If you ever admit patients independently (without housestaff or a midlevel provider), we strongly recommend you complete “Epic Navigators.”
- If you perform procedures in the following areas – outpatient surgery, interventional radiology, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, fine needle aspiration, cath lab, ECT or Ambulatory Procedures Treatment Unit – we strongly recommend that you complete “Surgical Supplement” if it is not already assigned to you.
- If you care for patients in the ICU, we strongly recommend that you complete “ICU Supplement” if it is not already assigned to you.
- If you will provide consultation on inpatients – we strongly recommend that you complete “Consult Navigator” if it is not already assigned to you.
You must complete all assigned training before you will be granted privileges to practice at Stanford. Once you have completed your assigned training you will be granted access to Epic within 48 hours.
