Instructions to approve SHC as your “Authorized Official” with CMS

All Stanford physicians need to authorize SHC’s Provider Enrollment Group to act on their behalf with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). 

Physicians will need to visit the NPPES (aka NPI) website (Link to NPPES) to complete the following steps. 

NOTE:  Please contact the NPI Enumerator at 1-800-465-3203 if you need your NPPES username and password.

  1. Sign into I&A system: Link to I&A (Identity and Access Management System)

  2. Click on Manage My I&A Access Requests
 menu options
  1. The last three options should look like this.  Everything else should be cleared.

  2. Click on Search
request options
  1. Click on the tracking ID (in blue)
 tracking id
  1. Request Status is “Pending”

  2. Click Approve
 request status
  1. At the Approval Confirmation, click YES
 approval confirmation
  1. Please confirm that Request Status is “Active”

  2. You can now log off
 status active
