Volunteer Requirements
Adult Volunteer Program (ages 18 and over): Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Stanford Hospital & Clinics! We require a six-month commitment of 1 shift per week (3-4 hours). The requirements are listed as numbers 1-8 below.
High School Volunteer Program: Thank you for your interest in becoming a Junior Auxiliary Volunteer! The program is highly competitive and sought after. You must be at least 16 years old to attend an orientation. Please review the requirements listed below.
- View our Orientation Dates and submit an orientation registration form via email.
- An email confirmation will be sent to you within 7 business days.
- The email will include required forms. Complete the forms and bring them with you to orientation.
- Sign up for a group interview on the day of your scheduled orientation date.
- Complete online training modules (HealthStream).
- Complete a criminal background check (adults only).
- Complete the hospital's health clearance process (information provided at the group interview).
- Submit two letters of reference (turn in at any time).
Compensation
- Volunteer positions are not paid.
- Volunteers do not carry employee status (your participation will not result in any status as an employee of Stanford Hospital & Clinics, nor will you be entitled to any form of remuneration for your services).

Time Commitment

The minimum commitment is 3 - 4 hours per week for 6 months, on a regularly scheduled basis. Some volunteer programs require a 1-year time commitment.

Unfortunately, we do not have any short-term volunteer opportunities.
- All assignments to volunteer positions can be terminated at any time, by either party, with or without notice and with or without cause. No volunteer assignment is guaranteed for any specific period of time.
