Auxiliary Volunteer Positions
Reception Areas
- Ambulatory Surgery Center: Provide support and assistance to patients and their families. Relay communications to waiting families of patients.
- Intensive Care Reception: Staff desks outside intensive care units to assist families and visitors of patients in the respective units.
- Surgery Reception: Assist physicians in locating waiting family members following surgeries. Relay communications to waiting families of surgical patients.
Other Services
- Auxiliary Center: Perform general office work including typing, filing, answering the telephone and providing support to volunteer staff.
- Emergency Room (involves direct patient contact): Provide support and assistance to staff and families of patients.
- Gift Shop: Assist customers in gift selection, take telephone orders, deliver flowers and work at the cash register.
- Shopping Cart: Provide in-patients with a room-to-room purchase opportunity of varied items. Lots of walking involved!
- Information/Escort: Provide information and directions to patients, family members and visitors. Accompany guests to their destination within the Medical Center. Run errands as requested by hospital staff. Lots of walking involved!
- Patient Services (involves direct patient contact): Assist patients with a variety of personal services such as running errands, circulating reading material, writing letters and caring for flowers. Lots of walking involved!
- Individualized Placement: Assist various clinics and departments.
