Location of orientation: 875 Blake Wilbur Dr., Stanford, CA 94305

Please park at the Patient/Visitor Parking Lot and you will receive a parking pass at the orientation.

Directions to ASC Conference Room #3116: Enter the Stanford Advanced Medicine Center (Cancer Center) through the Ambulatory Surgery Center entrance; immediately turn left and head to the bank of elevators; take elevator up to the 3rd floor (ASC – Ambulatory Surgery Center); walk straight across the hallway towards the front desk; turn right; Conference Room #3116 will be on the left-hand side.

E-mail VolunteerResources@stanfordmed.org to confirm dates and your attendance. Space is limited. IT IS REQUIRED TO REGISTER FOR AN ORIENTATION.

Please register at least 24 hours in advance. You will receive an e-mail confirming registration.

Volunteer Application Process

  1. Please review the volunteer applicant (PDF) document.
     
  2. Schedule and attend the Hospital Volunteer Orientation. The orientation will cover the following:

    • Stanford Hosptial & Clincs Mission Statement & Values
    • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
    • JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) Requirements
    • Confidentiality
    • Patient Safety
    • Code of Conduct
    • Environmental Health & Safety
    • Cultural Diversity & Sensitivity
    • Health Clearance Requirements
    • Volunteer privileges & guidelines
    • Respect for Individuals Preventing Harassment in the Workplace
    • HealthStream (online training modules)
  3. Attend Volunteer Interview

  4. Complete Health Clearance (measles, mumps, rubella, chicken pox, and TB)

  5. Issue Security Photo ID Badge

Volunteering with Children

Note: All assignments to volunteer positions can be terminated at any time, by either party, with or without notice and with or without cause.  No volunteer assignment is guaranteed for any specific period of time.
