Airport Information

The San Francisco Bay Area is served by three major international airports: San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland.

San Francisco and San Jose are closer to Stanford University and therefore more convenient for travelers coming to Stanford.

Shuttle and bus services to Stanford are available from nearby airports.

From San Francisco International Airport

Take Highway 101 South (toward San Jose) and follow the directions in our Driving & Parking section.

From Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport

Take Highway 101 North (toward San Francisco) and follow the directions in our Driving & Parking section.

From Oakland International Airport

Take I-880 South (toward San Jose) to Highway 92 West (toward Half Moon Bay) to Highway 101 South (toward San Jose) and follow the directions in our Driving & Parking section.

Public Transportation

Public Transportation Shuttle and bus services to Stanford are available from nearby airports.

A commuter rail line, CalTrain also connects the Peninsula.

Stanford's free Marguerite Shuttle connects with CalTrain and downtown Palo Alto.
