Working to alleviate GI pain

Living with GI Pain is challenging and can impact an individual’s quality of life. The physicians and staff at the Stanford GI Pain Clinic understand and are here to help.

The Stanford GI Pain Clinic offers an innovative, multi-disciplinary approach to helping patients manage gastrointestinal pain from undiagnosed causes as well as pain resulting from specific GI disorders and diseases.

The goal of the GI Pain Clinic is to streamline patient care by expediting access to pain specialists and creating a comprehensive pain management plan tailored to the patient’s unique needs.

The GI Pain Clinic uses a collaborative approach to patient care, which is especially helpful when working on challenging cases. Once a patient is assessed at the GI Pain Clinic, they may be referred to the Stanford Pain Management Center .  At the Pain Management Center, patients may see up to three pain specialists in one appointment.  These specialists then work with the gastroenterologist and patient to develop a treatment plan.

Many of our patients seek help for the underlying causes of their pain at the following Stanford Digestive Health Center Clinics: Motility and Functional GI Disorders , Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and Pancreas Disorders .

In addition to treating patients who are seen at the Stanford Digestive Health Center, the GI Pain Clinic also treats patients with undiagnosed or poorly managed GI pain.
