Steven Pavlet, PT, MS, OCS, ATC

Advanced Clinical Specialist, Outpatient Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy

Steve has been practicing physical therapy since 1989, and has been a APTA Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist since 2001.  He is a graduate of Stanford University, where he worked in the Department of Athletics Athletic Training Facility, and received his Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Duke University. He began his career at the UCLA Outpatient Physical Therapy Center, and has since worked in many hospital and outpatient settings, including a stint as a Physical Therapist on the PGA tour. He joined Stanford Hospital & Clinics in 2009 for the opening of the new Stanford Medicine Outpatient Center in Redwood City, specializing in orthopedic and sports rehabilitation. Steve’s interests and certifications include Golf Performance and Kettlebell training.

 

Bill Seringer, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS

Physical Therapist

Bill Seringer is a board certified orthopedic clinical specialist specializing in sports medicine and other orthopedic related issues. He received his undergraduate education in exercise science and completed his graduate education culminating in a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University at Buffalo in 2007. While completing his clinical affiliations, he worked at the internationally renowned Cincinnati SportsMedicine with an emphasis in sports medicine related injuries of the knee, shoulder, elbow, ankle, and hip. After that he attended the Scottsdale Sport Clinic in Scottsdale Arizona where he primarily specialized with injuries of the shoulder and knee in various sports with a focus on overhead athletes, and injury prevention. In 2006 he became a certified Kinesiotaping practitioner, a certified strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association in 2009, as well as a credentialed clinical instructor by the APTA in 2009, and a board certified orthopedic clinical specialist in 2010. He has attended numerous advanced education courses and conferences, in the areas of shoulder, knee, and spine related disorders, as well as lower extremity biomechanics and foot orthotics. As a former Division 1 tennis player his sports interests include tennis, whitewater kayaking, and snowboarding.

 

Lori Beyer, DPT, MS, OCS

Physical Therapist

Lori received her Master’s of Physical Therapy in May 2001 and her post professional Doctorate of Physical Therapy in August 2007 both at Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa.  Lori recently completed the Australian Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy yearlong residency in May 2010 and became an APTA board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist in 2011.  She has been practicing for 9 years in the areas of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.  She has a very comprehensive background, including strong clinical management skills and extensive experience in manual orthopedic therapy.  She was the Clinic Director of two different private outpatient orthopedic physical therapy offices in the Chicago region responsible for staff development, regional marketing, referral sourcing, and revenue management.  Her areas of clinical focus have included the foot and ankle, the running athlete, fabrication of custom-made orthotics, functional capacity evaluations in the work-related injury population, and SI dysfunction.  Her professional goal includes sitting for the Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT).  In her free time, Lori enjoys sailing, down-hill skiing, cycling, hiking, and almost all water sports.

 

Joseph Villena, MPT, COMT, OCS

Physical Therapist

Joseph graduated cum laude from the University of San Francisco in 1998 with a Bachelor’s in Exercise and Sports Science. He went on to receive his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles in 2001and became an APTA board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist in 2011. Prior to joining Stanford, Joseph worked in various outpatient orthopedic private practices and institutions. He once helped manage a large physical therapy practice in Palo Alto where he developed a unique post operative rehab program with a local physician. He also has acted as a clinical instructor and mentor for various students and staff members.  In 2008, Joseph completed a yearlong course for Australian Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy and obtained his certification as a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist. His outside interests include rock climbing, snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, running, cooking, and salsa dancing.

 

Tala Khalaf, PT, OMPT, OCS

Physical Therapist

Tala Khalaf graduated from Ohio State University in 1997 with a degree in Physical Therapy, then  completed a two-year graduate program at Oakland University in Michigan earning a certification in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (OMPT).  She then worked as a traveling Physical Therapist from 1997 to 2001 at various hospitals and orthopedic clinics throughout the US.  After settling down in Michigan, she worked for the Beaumont Hospital outpatient clinics from 2001 to 2005, attending to a variety of spine and extremity dysfunctions and post-operative  procedures.  From 2005-2007, Tala owned and managed Back to Motion Outpatient Center, a comprehensive wellness center for Physical Therapy, smoking cessation, and weight loss programs.  Along with Physical Therapy, Tala used  cold laser treatments for pain/inflammation control, smoking cessation, and weight loss management.  Tala also obtained a certification in Mat Stott pilates which she has applied to the rehabilitation of spine patients in her practice.  She has been working at the Stanford Hospital Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy since June 2008 and became an APTA board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist in 2011.

 

Gretchen Leff, MSPT, OCS, CPI

Physical Therapist

Gretchen Leff graduated with a BA in Biology from Gustavus Adolphus College 1995. She completed her graduate studies in the Program of Physical Therapy at Washington University’s School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri in 1997. Gretchen has practiced primarily with the orthopedic and sports medicine patient population since 1997, including private practice and hospital-based outpatient settings. In 2004, she completed her training to become a certified Pilates instructor and finds the repertoire very useful particular with treatment of dancers and the general population of patients with lower back and postural dysfunctions. In 2009, Gretchen became a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist. Gretchen’s treatment approach, influenced by her professor Shirley Sahrmann, is largely movement based, identifying and correcting faulty movement patterns, which may lead to movement dysfunctions and pain. Gretchen particularly enjoys treating patients with foot and ankle dysfunction and has experience in the prescription of custom orthosis and gait analysis. She looks forward to continuing her education and professional development at Stanford, in hopes to eventually mix clinical practice with teaching and/or research. Outside of work, Gretchen enjoys the outdoors including long-distance running, hiking, swimming, rock climbing, and skiing. She also enjoys singing, dancing, fine arts, and watching football!!
