The Outpatient Neurologic Rehabilitation Team at Stanford Hospital & Clinics provides Occupational, Physical and Speech Therapy services at our hospital-based location at 300 Pasteur Drive.
Our therapists have extensive experience in working with neurologically impaired clients, utilize evidence-based treatment approaches, and have access to specialty equipment such as body-weight support gait training, functional electrical stimulation devices, radiological swallow studies, computerized speech/voice programs and more.

Pamela Triano, PT, NCS
Advanced Clinical Specialist, Physical Therapist
Pam is a graduate of the University of Connecticut, and has been practicing physical therapy since 1992. She joined Stanford Hospital & Clinics in 2001, became APTA Board Certified in Neurologic Physical Therapy, and is currently the Advanced Clinical Specialist in the Outpatient NeuroRehabilitation program. Pam has experience working with patients with neurological disorders in a variety of settings, and is knowledgeable in the areas of balance and gait abnormalities, fall prevention, orthotics, functional electric stimulation for footdrop, use of body-weight support systems, flexibility and strengthening exercises, and wheelchair seating and positioning. She has completed training in the Neurodevelopmental Approach to the Treatment of Adult Hemiplegia and has been involved in research projects at SHC. Pam is the primary Physical Therapist for the ALS/Muscular Dystrophy and Huntington’s/Ataxia disease clinics, and is currently involved in balance and vestibular rehabilitation program development. She is also a clinical faculty member of the UCSF/San Francisco State University graduate program in Physical Therapy and has been an instructor for the Kaiser Permanente APTA Neurologic Residency Program in Physical Therapy.

Margaret Dougherty, MS, OTR/L, MHA
Clinical Specialist, Occupational Therapist
Margaret is a graduate of the University of Rochester, the Medical College of Virginia and California State University-Long Beach. She has been practicing occupational therapy since 1986 and has been at Stanford Hospital & Clinics since 1992, where she holds the title of Clinical Specialist in the Outpatient NeuroRehabilitation program. Her expertise is in neurologic rehabilitation, and she has worked in settings across the continuum of care, including hospitals, outpatient centers and in home care. She holds advanced certifications in splinting, swallowing and modalities in the state of California. . Margaret has been involved in research projects at SHC and is the primary Occupational Therapist for the ALS/Muscular Dystrophy clinics. She considers treatments involving energy conservation, work simplification, wheelchair assessments, environmental adaptations, pre-driving evaluations and home modifications essential for persons to maintain independence in their daily lives. She also travels nationwide delivering trainings sessions on the use of standardized outcome measures to rehabilitation units.

Megan DePuy, MBA/HCM, MS, CCC-SLP
Senior Speech-Language Pathologist
Megan graduated from Emerson College in 2003 where she earned a Masters of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Megan has also earned a Masters of Business Administration that focused on Healthcare Management. Megan joined the Outpatient NeuroRehabilitation program at Stanford Hospital and Clinics in 2011. She has previously practiced in multiple settings in California including outpatient rehabilitation, private practice, acute inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, and long term care. Megan has experience in evaluating and treating speech, language, voice, cognitive, and swallowing issues arising from a variety of diagnoses. She also performs outpatient Modified Barium Swallowing Studies (MBSS) in conjunction with the Radiology department and outpatient Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluations of Swallowing (FEES). Megan holds a specialty certification as a Lee Silverman Voice Therapy (LSVT®) clinician and she currently serves as Commissioner, San Mateo County Commission on Aging.

Tashina Fuelling, PT
Senior Physical Therapist
Tashina is a graduate of Western University of Health Sciences, and has been a practicing Physical Therapist since 2000. She joined the team of therapists at Stanford Hospital & Clinics that same year and has focused much of her continuing education on Neurological Rehabilitation. Tashina has completed training in the Neurodevelopmental Approach to the Treatment of Adult Hemiplegia and is also trained in Pilates mat and reformer. Tashina uses her knowledge to help individuals improve core strength, flexibility, balance and vestibular system functions, gait, overall functional strength for ease of transfers and activities of daily living, coordination and endurance. She also has experience in working with functional electrical stimulation for foot drop as well as various orthotic devices for improving foot and knee control during gait. Tashina finds working with the neurological population challenging and very rewarding.
Jennifer Hancock, M.A., CCC-SLP
Senior Speech-Language Pathologist
Jennifer is a graduate of the University of the Pacific and has been a practicing Speech-Language Pathologist since 1988. She joined Stanford Hospital and Clinics Outpatient NeuroRehabilitation Program in 2011, and brings over 20 years of experience to the team. Jennifer has worked in a variety of settings, including in-patient-acute care, acute rehabilitation, sub-acute care and out-patient therapy services. She has extensive experience in evaluation and treatment of communicative disorders including speech, language, cognition, and voice and swallowing deficits. She received her specialty certification as a Lee Silverman Voice Therapy (LSVT®) clinician in 2011, and she performs Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS) in conjunction with the Radiology department. Jennifer has previously served with the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs as a board member to the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board.
Julie Mello, DPT
Physical Therapist
Julie is a graduate of Quinnipiac University in Connecticut, where she received her Doctor of Physical therapy degree in 2010. Julie has worked exclusively in the outpatient neurologic rehab setting. She joined Stanford Hospital and Clinics Outpatient NeuroRehabilitation program in 2011. She has experience with the evaluation and treatment of gait abnormalities and decreased functional mobility skills arising from a variety of diagnoses. Julie has additional experience in ALS/muscular dystrophy clinics. She has also had training in the use of functional electrical stimulation to control foot drop. Julie has a passion for Neurological Rehabilitation and feels that the neurological population is an extremely rewarding population to work with.

Diane Pacholski, PT
Senior Physical Therapist
Diane is a graduate of State University of New York at Downstate Medical Center and has been practicing physical therapy since 1976. She has worked in all facets of neurological physical therapy with a particular emphasis in outpatient and home therapy services. Over a period of 15 years, Diane taught nationally recognized seminars for physical and occupational therapists in the Neurodevelopmental Approach to the Treatment of Adult Hemiplegia. Diane returned to Stanford Hospital & Clinics Outpatient NeuroRehabilitation program in 2009. She contributes her expertise in the areas of stroke rehabilitation, balance and vestibular rehabilitation, fall prevention, gait abnormalities and orthotics.

Meena Somasundaram, DPT
Senior Physical Therapist
Meena is a graduate of St. Catherine University in Minneapolis, where she received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2004. Meena has wide-ranging experience in a variety of rehabilitation settings, including acute inpatient care, home care and outpatient care. She joined Stanford Hospital and Clinics Outpatient NeuroRehabilitation Program in 2011. Meena has a passion for Neurological Rehabilitation and she has completed training in the Neurodevelopmental Approach to the Treatment of Adult Hemiplegia. She also has additional expertise in vestibular rehabilitation, which includes the treatment of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and inner ear disorders. She works with persons to relieve them of debilitating symptoms such as dizziness, vertigo, and nausea and to improve their balance through individualized exercise programs targeted at fall prevention. Meena is dedicated to continuing education and is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association.

Jennifer Williams, OTR/L
Senior Occupational Therapist
Jennifer is a graduate of the University of Toronto and the University of Western Ontario. She has been practicing Occupational Therapy since 1997 and joined Stanford Hospital and Clinics Outpatient NeuroRehabilitation Program in 2009. She is certified in NeuroDevelopmental Treatment, Elemental Driving Simulator, and the Functional Independence Measure. While practicing in Toronto, she maintained a status appointment at the University of Toronto where she lectured in the area of NeuroRehabilitation. Jennifer has focused her treatment in neurologic rehabilitation, and has worked in a variety of settings from acute care hospitals to outpatient rehabilitation. She believes persons with neurological disorders can benefit from therapies which incorporate energy conservation, work simplification, prescription of adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications to maintain as much independence in a person's activities of daily living as possible. Jennifer's interventions have focused on upper extremity retraining, visual perceptual disorders, functional memory retraining, and maintenance of functioning in activities of daily living.
