Goal
To gain a basic understanding of oncologic therapeutics and expertise in the overall management of patients with malignancies
Objectives

Gain knowledge of the principles and techniques of cancer prevention and screening

Become familiar with signs and symptoms of common cancers and their treatments

Become familiar with cancer chemotherapies including stability, compatibility, side effects, dosing, and response rates

Outline appropriate supportive care strategies for pain management, nutrition, nausea and vomiting, and infection prevention and treatment for cancer patients

Understand and discuss treatment of oncologic emergencies

Gain understanding of the principles of terminal and hospice care, as well as associated medical and ethical issues

Become familiar with oncology information sources and current literature
Activities

Participate in daily rounds with the oncology team

Daily patient monitoring to ensure efficacy and safety of drug therapy

Provide accurate and concise drug information to other healthcare professionals

Provide patient education on medication
