Goal

To acquire the clinical skills and experience necessary to ensure therapeutic and cost-effective pharmacologic treatment on an inpatient cardiology service
Objectives
  • Apply appropriate pharmaceutical care principles in the management of patients
  • Provide accurate and concise drug information to other healthcare professionals
  • Be an active and productive member of the cardiology team
  • Provide patient education and discharge counseling on medications
  • Be familiar with current literature and major studies in cardiology

Activities

  • One formal presentation on a cardiology topic
  • Weekly presentations to preceptors on cardiology related topics
  • Answer and follow-up on questions from preceptors
  • Provide drug information to medical staff
  • Daily patient monitoring to ensure efficacy and safety of drug therapy (Units: D1CCU, D1CSU)
  • Observe a minimum of two procedures
  • Participate in Code Blue activities
  • Prepare and present nursing in-services
  • Contribute to D1 newsletter
  • Compound common IV drips
