Communications Specialist Openings

The ideal candidate has working knowledge of medical terminology, has prior EMS experience and excellent communications skills.
Summary - Job Function
The Communications Specialist performs emergency and general communication functions. The position requires diligent attention to detail, precise documentation and the ability to multi-task and rapidly trouble-shoot demanding situations.
About the Communications Center
The center processes an average of 2000 calls per month, the majority of the calls received are for admissions to the hospital, a smaller volume are for helicopter service. The center services the Transfer Center, Helicopter Service and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital.Job Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent required.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Must be able to function effectively in a potentially stressful and demanding environment.
- Organizational and problem-solving skills, excellent public relations skills and the ability to work autonomously.
- Communicate effectively with hospital staff and the general public, both orally and in writing, and be able to use discretion and independent judgment.
