Our Team
The Stanford Interventional Neuroradiology team consists of two full-time interventional neuroradiologists, one Fellow in interventional neuroradiology, a nurse coordinator for vascular patients and a part time nurse coordinator for vertebroplasty patients.
Dr. Marks has been very active both clinically and academically, having published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers and written dozens of book chapters.
Michael P. Marks, MD
He has presented papers nationally and internationally and has been the principle investigator or co-investigator on both NIH and industry sponsored research consistently over his years at Stanford.
His research interests have included AVM natural history and treatment, aneurysm treatment, angioplasty and acute stroke imaging and treatment.
Dr. Do has been the author of many peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. He has presented papers both nationally and internationally.
He has also been the recipient of several awards and distinctions including the GE/AUR Radiology Research Academic Fellowship.
His research has been targeted at understanding the effectiveness of vertebroplasty as a treatment for painful spinal compression fractures, developing embolic materials for AVM and tumor embolization, aneurysm therapy, and acute stroke treatment.
Robert Dodd, MD, PhD
Dr. Dodd received his medical degree from the Stanford University School of Medicine, where he also earned a PhD in Neurosciences from the Department of Neurobiology. His neurosurgery training also took place at Stanford, where he recently completed an endovascular fellowship. His research interests have been in cerebral blood vessel reactivity and stroke.
Dr. Dodd's clinical interests include endovascular and microsurgical treatment of intracranial aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations; percutaneous and surgical interventions for both extracranial and intracranial carotid artery occlusive disease; and minimally invasive neurosurgery though the use of neuroendoscopy and keyhole approaches.
Carol A. Barch, MN CRNP
Ms. Barch's work in stroke began as a clinical coordinator for the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke t-PA stroke study. Since then she has worked as an advanced practice nurse and traveled throughout the United States as a consultant for the National Stroke Association. Her work also includes various publications on topics related to acute stroke and is an expert on stroke prevention.
She received her bachelor's degree in nursing from Wayne State University in Detroit, and a master and post -master's nursing degree from Emory University in Atlanta. She has received national certification in critical care nursing, neuroscience nursing and as a family nurse practitioner.
Mary L. Marcellus, RN
Nurse Coordinator
Mary received her RN in 1978 after attending St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford, CT.
She has worked at Stanford University since 1980, first as a staff nurse in the intensive care unit, then as assistant nurse manager.
Mary has worked with the interventional neuroradiology team since 1993. She works with cerebrovascular patients and is involved with several research projects.
