Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety
We participate in several programs designed to improve road safety for bicyclists and pedestrians.
- Joining together with Santa Clara County’s Public Health Department and organizers of the Traffic Safe Communities Network of Santa Clara County, efforts are underway to reduce the risks associated with walking and bicycling to school through the Safe Routes to School programs (www.safekids.org).
- Working with the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition, Stanford University Parking and Transportation, and others in the community, the Trauma Center is working to reduce injuries and deaths due to bicycle crashes. Our coalition works on strategies to share the road, concentrating on motorist and bicyclist behavior.
