ED Referrals
The Stanford Emergency Department works closely with doctors in local and surrounding communities to provide a continuum of care for patients in need of emergency services.
If you refer a patient to the Stanford Emergency Department, we encourage you to contact us prior to your patient’s arrival.
Between 9am-9pm (7:30am-11:30pm for pediatrics), please call: (650) 725-4492
Outside of these hours, please call: (650) 724-2243.
You will speak with a Nurse or Charge Nurse, who will request the following information:
- Patient name
- Patient date of birth
- Medical record number (please note that only established Stanford patients will have a medical record number)
- Patient medical condition or concern
- Recommended tests
- Contact information of MD for further information, and for followup purposes if requested
When you speak to the Nurse or Charge Nurse, please let us know if you would like for us to contact you after your patient has been seen by one of our doctors.
For Stanford Hospital & Clinics outpatient clinic referrals, please contact the Doctor Helpline for assistance.
