The Stanford Emergency Department is a Level 1 Trauma Center dedicated to the highest level of care for ill and critically injured patients. It is also a Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center, dedicated to rapid intervention for acute stroke and myocardial infarction. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to meet the emergency medical needs of patients.
Our Medical Transfer Center works with doctors and medical facilities wishing to access the services of Stanford Hospital & Clinics (SHC) and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital (LPCH). We coordinate all aspects of inpatient transfers and referrals, including transport via ground (ambulance) or helicopter (Life Flight).
Life Flight air ambulance provides patient transports into and out of SHC and LPCH. Life Flight services may also be requested for patients being transported to facilities other than Stanford.
If you are a referring doctor from the local or surrounding communities, we encourage you to contact us prior to your patient's arrival.
