The Stanford Trauma Center incorporates the adjoining Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, where children under 17 are admitted after stabilization in the Emergency Department (ED) or operating room (OR).
The Stanford Medicine became a trauma center in 1986, and since 1998 has been recognized as a Level I Trauma Center, the highest level awarded by the American College of Surgeons.
