Stanford Hospital & Clinics' Vascular Surgery Service has gained national and international recognition as a Vascular Center of Excellence.This is due, in part, to its large interdisciplinary team that enjoys close interaction among faculty, community vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, basic scientists, engineers, and computer scientists, as well as nurse coordinators, research nurses, vascular surgery fellows, and clinic support staff.
This unique working environment has resulted in remarkable academic and clinical productivity involving new and innovative techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease.

- Carotid endartectomy
- Surgery of the abdominal and thoracic aorta, including:
- Aortic aneurysm repair
- Endovascular stent grafts for aneurysms
- Aorto-iliac and femoral bypass
- Reoperative aortic surgery
- Surgery for occlusive disease, including lower-extremity revascularization for claudication and limb salvage, as well as:
- Aortofemoral bypass
- Minimally invasive techniques
- Reversed an in situ bypass
- Pedal bypass
- Cryopreserved vein bypass
- Thrombolysis and transcatheter techniques
- Redo and end-stage limb salvage procedures
- Thoracic outlet surgery
- Mesenteric revascularization (acute and chronic)
- Creation of dialysis access shunts
- Placement of dialysis lines
- Extra-anatomic bypass
- Operative angioplasty and atherectomy
- Cerebrovascular disease
- Aneurysmal and arterial occlusive disease
- Use of new, minimally invasive treatments
For advanced diagnostic imaging we use high-speed spiral CT as well as MRI angiography, which allows quantitative flow measurements.
Focused digital angiography permits interventional radiologists to treat specific lesions using angioplasty, atherectomy, and intravascular stents.
We also offer thrombolysis and stenting of the venous system.
Vascular surgeons provide surgical and transcatheter therapies for a variety of vascular problems, including:- Vertebrobasilar insufficiency
