What to Expect from a Consultation Appointment
A consultation appointment is an office visit with one of our sleep physicians. During the appointment, you and your doctor will discuss your symptoms, history and a treatment plan. Completing our questionnaire before you arrive will allow your doctor to focus on your complaints and use your time together efficiently.
During the evaluation, your doctor will perform a history and physical to assess your health. This includes routine assessments such as taking your blood pressure, listening to your breathing, and reviewing your medical history. You will be asked to discuss your sleep complaints as well as any other related conditions. It is always wise to prepare a list of questions and key issues you would like to discuss before your appointment to ensure all of your questions are answered.
Based on your history and symptoms, your doctor will do further testing such as a sleep study to confirm your diagnosis or else he or she will work with you to develop a treatment plan.
