Diagnostic Testing

California law requires that the donor of any tissue donated to another person, including a partner insemination or IVF, be screened for five specific sexually transmitted diseases. There are also some routine diagnostic tests that could be performed prior to your appointment with the Stanford Fertility and Reproductive Medicine Center.

Male Evaluation (for insemination or in vitro fertilization treatment)

Blood tests

Other Male Tests

Other Female Tests

If you have not had your fallopian tubes evaluated, your physician may want to request a hysterosalpingogram (HSG). Ideally, our physician would like to see the radiology report and films. Please have the report sent to us and bring a copy of the films to your appointment. It is not necessary to have all these tests completed prior to the visit, but if it is more convenient or cost effective to have them ordered by your primary care physician, please do so.

If the tests are performed at an outside laboratory, it is your responsibility to arrange for the results to be released and sent to our office. Some labs will not fax or mail HIV results, so you may need to pick up the report in person. If you, or your physician, have any questions about these tests, please feel free to call our office at (650) 498-7911. Reports may be faxed to (650) 723-6420.
