The Stanford Psychiatry Clinic provides comprehensive outpatient behavioral health and psychiatric care for children, adolescents and adults.
Consultation and ongoing treatment is provided by faculty and staff physicians and psychologists for a wide range of disorders.
The clinic also provides treatment for specialized populations including children, seniors, women, and patients with a co-existing medical disorder.
Accessing Services
Patients, family and physicians can speak directly to a psychiatric intake coordinator who will triage each patient to the most appropriate specialty area. The intake coordinator will also assist in obtaining insurance verification and pre-authorization as needed. You can reach the intake department by calling (650) 498-9111.
Adult Treatment Specialties

Behavioral Medicine: Evaluation and treatment of eating disorders, panic and anxiety disorders, personality disorders, adjustment disorders and psychosocial treatment of depression or stress. Conducts weight loss therapy groups.

Geriatric Psychiatry: Evaluation and treatment for patients 55 years and older with depresssion, anxiety, dementia and other psychiatric disorders complicated by the biological and psychological effects of aging.

Individual Psychotherapy: Long-term psychotherapy for patients with relationship or personal difficulties. All diagnoses including those requiring medication are considered.

Couples and Family: Evaluation and treatment of relationship problems, marital conflict, divorce, remarriage and parenting issues.

Medical Psychotherapy: Evaluation and treatment of patients who have psychiatric or behavioral symptoms as a result of, or related to, a serious medical illness or injury such as HIV, cancer, heart disease, stroke or chronic pain.

Mood Disorders: Consultation and treatment for patients with major depression, dysthymia and bipolar disorder using a combined treatment approach of medication and psychotherapy.

Neuropsychiatry: Psychiatric or behavioral complications of neurological disorders such as movement disorders, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, head trauma, stroke or mental retardation.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: Evaluation and treatment for patients with a primary diagnosis of obsessive-compulsive disorder, hair-pulling, compulsive shopping and skin-picking. Many patients may also have a depressive disorder, panic disorder, phobias, substance abuse or significant personality disorder.

Psychopharmacology: Consultation and ongoing medication management for a variety of psychiatric illnesses and for patients seeking a second opinion about their current medications.
- Women's Wellness: Evaluation and treatment of psychiatric disorders which affect women including post-partum depression, PMS, menopause, infertility and pregnancy issues.

Anxiety Disorders: Evaluation and treatment of disorders such as Separation Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Agoraphobia, Social and specific phobias, General Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Attention Deficit & Disruptive Behavior Disorders: Evaluation and Treatment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Conduct Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder

Autism & Pervasive Developmental Disorders: Consultation, evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents with both a psychiatric disorder as well as a developmental disorder such as autism, cognitive development delays, sensory or motor impairment, brain disorders, learning disabilities, language impairment, impaired social behavior.

Behavioral Neurogenetics: Evaluation and treatment of psychiatric, behavioral and developmental problems of children with genetic, developmental and neuropsychiatric disorders such as Fragile X syndrome, Down syndrome, Turner Syndrome, Klinefelter syndrome, XYY syndrome and metabolic disorders.

Eating Disorders: Evaluation, consultation and treatment of anorexia, bulimia and other eating disorders. Treatment addresses both the medical and psychiatric aspects of the disorders.

Forensics: Assessment of children and their families involved with the justice system. Services include custody evaluations and visitation recommendations, court referred or court mandated therapy, evaluation and treatment of child abuse allegations.
