The Stanford Psychiatry Clinic provides comprehensive outpatient behavioral health and psychiatric care for adults.
Consultation and ongoing treatment is provided by faculty and staff physicians and psychologists for a wide range of disorders.
The clinic also provides treatment for specialized populations including seniors, women, and patients with a co-existing medical disorder.
Accessing Services
Patients, family and physicians can speak directly to a psychiatric intake coordinator who will triage each patient to the most appropriate specialty area. The intake coordinator will also assist in obtaining insurance verification and pre-authorization as needed. You can reach the intake department by calling (650) 498-9111.

Adult Treatment Specialties

Psychosocial Clinics: Evaluation and treatment of eating disorders, panic and anxiety disorders, personality disorders, adjustment disorders and psychosocial treatment of depression or stress. Conducts Dialectical Behavior Therapy groups.

Geriatric Psychiatry: Evaluation and treatment for patients 65 years and older with depression, anxiety, behavioral manifestations of dementia and other psychiatric disorders complicated by the biological and psychological effects of aging.

Individual Psychotherapy: Long-term psychotherapy for patients with relationship or personal difficulties. All diagnoses including those requiring medication are considered.

Couples and Family: Evaluation and treatment of relationship problems, marital conflict, divorce, remarriage and parenting issues.
- Psychosomatic Medicine: Evaluation and treatment of patients who have psychiatric or behavioral symptoms as a result of, or related to, a serious medical illness or injury such as organ transplant, cancer, heart disease, stroke or chronic pain.

Thought Disorders: Evaluation and management of schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder and psychosis.

Neuropsychiatry: Psychiatric or behavioral complications of neurological disorders such as movement disorders, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, head trauma or stroke.
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: Evaluation and treatment for patients with a primary diagnosis of obsessive-compulsive disorder, trichotillomania, compulsive shopping and skin-picking.
- Impulse Control Disorders: Evaluation and treatment for Intermittent Explosive Disorder, kleptomania, pathological gambling, trichotillomania, pyromania.
- Depression: Second opinion consultations and ongoing medication management for depression and dysthymia. Evaluations for ECT, evaluation and treatment using Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).
- Women's Wellness: Evaluation and treatment of female specific psychiatric issues and behavioral or psychiatric symptoms related to post-partum depression, PMS, menopause, infertility and pregnancy.
- Bipolar Disorder: Provides second opinion consultations and ongoing evaluation and management for patients with Bipolar Disorder. Also provides a DBT group for patients with Bipolar Disorder.
