Sandra attended Hahnemann University, School of Allied Health in Philadelphia, PA and completed training in 1994. She maintains her board certifications and is bilingual in Spanish and English. She joined Stanford Hospital & Clinics in 1996. She also continues to work in the ACTG (AIDS Clinical Trials Group) in addition to her position as an HIV care provider in the Positive Care Clinic.
