Preparation
7 days before procedure
Stop any Proton-Pump Inhibitors: omeprazole (Prilosec), lansoprazole (Prevacid), rabeprazole (Aciphex), pantoprazole (Protonix), esomeprazole (Nexium)
5 days before procedure
Stop any H2 Blocking Agents: cimetidine (Tagamet), nizatidine (Axid), ranitidine (Zantac), famotidine (Pepcid)
1 day before procedure
Stop any Antacids: Tums, Rolaids, Maalox, Gaviscon, Carafate
Please check with your physician to make sure that it is safe for you to go without these medications prior to the test.
Day of the procedure
Do not eat 8 hours prior to the study. Do not drink any liquid 2 hours prior to the study. Please arrive at the registration area one hour prior to your procedure time.
1 day after the procedure
Please note you must return to the lab the next day to remove the tube.
