Split Liver Transplant
This is a procedure used at Stanford Hospital & Clinics to increase the donor pool.
A cadaveric liver is "split" into two functioning units, which are used for transplantation to a child (left lobe) and an adult (right lobe).
The results in carefully selected recipients are nearly similar to those of full-size liver transplantations.
