Liver Transplant Transplant Services

Advanced Treatment Strategies

In addition to transplantation, our multidisciplinary team specializes in a wide range of other complex liver procedures, including minimally invasive and conventional surgery, chemotherapy, and interventional radiology for a multitude of liver disorders.

Combined cardiac surgery and liver transplant: Combined procedure for treating a heart condition (such as aortic valve replacement) at the same time as liver transplantation.

Hepatobiliary surgery: For treating benign and malignant disorders of the liver, bile ducts, and gallbladder. Our liver specialists are leaders in the use of advanced technologies for treating hepatobiliary diseases, including open and minimally invasive techniques.

Laparoscopic liver surgery: An increasing number of hepatic diseases can be dealt with through minimally invasive techniques rather than conventional open surgery.

Liver cancer treatment: Most successful when detected at an early stage. We offer surgical and non-surgical approaches for hepatoma (primary liver cancer that starts within the liver), cholangiocarcinoma (cancer of the bile ducts), and metastatic cancer (cancer that started elsewhere in the body and traveled to the liver). Liver reduction surgery: A treatment option for conditions such as polycystic liver disease, an inherited disorder that leads to the development of cysts throughout the liver. Laparoscopic liver surgery is an effective method for relieving symptoms associated with liver cysts.

Portal hypertension surgery: Used to control internal bleeding in the stomach or esophagus caused by high blood pressure in the portal vein (a major vein that carries blood from the digestive organs to the liver). We offer procedures that can reroute the blood flow, reduce pressure, and control the bleeding.
