Transplant Diabetes Program at Stanford Receives Two Major Awards

Winner of the 2005 Malinda Mitchell Award for Service Quality

November 2005 The Malinda Mitchell Award recognizes excellence in quality and service within the Stanford community. Candidates for the award are peer-recommended and reviewed.

About the Award Malinda Mitchell is a former president and chief executive officer of Stanford Hospital & Clinics. She left Stanford feeling "very proud that our organization has consistently maintained its excellence in the care that we give to patients and in the support that we provide for teaching and research."

She believes her greatest contribution to Stanford Hospital & Clinics was the development of a team-oriented approach to hospital management.

Winner of the "Best Practice in Diabetes Care" by the American Medical Group Association (AMGA)

September, 2005The annual AMGA award recognizes those programs in the American medical community showing the highest level of innovative and quality patient care.

About the Award To help foster and reward quality improvement efforts that improve integration and innovation of delivery systems in diabetes management.

The AMGA developed its Compendium of Best Practices in Diabetes Care. The award is given annually, and is reviewed by a national panel of experts in the field.
