Building on a Legacy of Innovation

The transplant programs at Stanford Hospital & Clinics have earned a number of distinctions including outstanding outcomes for both patient and graft survival. We have long been at the forefront in the field of transplantation and home to both the first adult heart transplant in the US and the first heart-lung transplant in the world. Our programs include:

From careful pre-transplant monitoring to post-surgical care, our strong emphasis on continuous quality improvement creates better outcomes for transplant patients. We also maintain comprehensive outpatient management of transplant recipients that includes infection prophylaxis, management of immunosuppression, and long-term patient monitoring and care.

Our multidisciplinary transplant teams are comprised of surgeons, medical specialists, nurse coordinators, social workers and ancillary staff members who provide superior, specialized expertise in all related transplant services.
