The Stanford clinical and research program in head and spine trauma aims to translate discoveries regarding the basic mechanisms of neural injury and repair into better treatments for brain and spinal cord injury. Patients initially treated in Stanford Hospital's Emergency Department may be evaluated in the General Neurosurgery Clinic for long-term follow-up care.

Conditions treated include:

Our research focuses on the oxidative stress produced in the brain by intracranial hemorrhage and subsequent events, with an emphasis on neurotrauma and critical care. This program collaborates with the Stanford Brain Research Center, the Stanford Spine Clinic, and our Surgical Navigation Program.
