Our Team

Daniel J Murphy, Jr., MD

Dr. Murphy has his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and his medical degree was completed at the University of Southern California. 

He trained in Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology at Children's Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio. He joined the faculty at Stanford in 2001 after previous faculty appointments at Baylor College of Medicine and the Cleveland Clinic. 

Dr. Murphy is the Associate Chief of Cardiology at Lucille Packard Children's Hospital (LPCH) and the director of the Congenital Cardiac Clinic at Stanford Hospital & Clinics. He is a past President of the International Society for Adult Congenital Cardiac Disease. He serves on the Medical Advisory Board of the Adult Congenital Heart Association and the Executive Committee of the Pediatric & Adult Congenital Heart Section of the American College of Cardiology. 

Dr. Murphy's interests include echocardiography, adolescent transition to adult care, and care of the adult with congenital heart disease. He has authored numerous articles and book chapters regarding congenital cardiac defects.

Mark Perlroth, MD

Dr. Perlroth has his undergraduate degree from University of Rochester, New York and his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. 

His first fellowship in Cardiology was completed at the Brigham Hospital in Boston where he was among the first to publish the effectiveness of the DC defibrillator (with Dr. Bernard Lown), which is now a world-wide standard for the treatment of acute and chronic arrhythmias.  He came to Stanford Hospital & Clinics in 1965.  He is a Fellow of the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology and the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Perlroth's professional interests include adults with Congenital Heart Disease. In addition to the work Dr. Perlroth has done at Stanford, he has also completed sabbaticals in congenital heart disease at The Laennec Hospital in Paris in 1976 and at the Thoraxcenter in Rotterdam, Netherlands in 1992.  He has also been an invited lecturer in Europe, Canada and South America. 

Dr. Perlroth shares responsibility for the care of Cardiac post-transplant patients as well as seeing General Cardiology patients on the wards and in the clinics.

Joseph Wu, MD, PhD

Dr. Wu has his undergraduate degree from University of California, Los Angeles and his medical degree from Yale Medical School.

He trained in both general cardiology and adult congenital heart disease at the UCLA Medical Center.  He joined the faculty at Stanford in 2004.  He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiology.

Dr. Wu's professional interests include management of adults with congenital heart disease, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and basic research.


 
Andrea Frederick, RN, MSAndrea Frederick, RN, MS

Andrea received her BS in Biology from UC Santa Cruz in 1998 and completed her Masters degree in Nursing from San Francisco State University. 

In 2002, Andrea started at Stanford Hospital & Clinics as a staff nurse for the Cardiac Surveillance Unit and the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.  She later transitioned into Case Management for Cardiac Surgery and Solid Organ transport.

Andrea joined the team in the Cardiology Clinic as a Nurse Coordinator in January 2005.
