Amyloidosis Support Group

No matter what form of amyloidosis you have, it is a serious, life-changing disease. Little can be more important for patients and their loved ones than to learn from other patients and their families.

We are proud to collaborate with the Northern California Amyloidosis Support Group – comprised of amyloidosis patients and their families.

This group meets four times per year, allowing patients and their families to learn more about the disease, swap stories, and support one another.

NEXT MEETING:

DATE: Saturday, January 30, 2010

TIME: Noon to 4pm (room will be open at 11:30am for refreshments)

GUEST SPEAKERS:

We will have two guest speakers – Dr. Jeffrey Wolf is the amyloidosis specialist from UCSF and the doctor who has treated some of our group members.  Joining Dr. Wolf is Tina Kuus, PhD, from The Binding Site with the latest and greatest information on those perplexing free light chains.   I will send specific speaker times as we get closer to the meeting date.

MEETING LOCATION:

The meeting will be held at facility located at 513 Parnassus Avenue and the room number is 170.  The room can be tricky to find so there will be signs to direct participants.

DIRECTIONS TO OUR MEETING ROOM:

Walk straight into the building and bear to the right all the way around the staircase. Then you will head to the left and walk to the end of the hall.

UCSF CAMPUS MAP:

She also provides this campus map of UCSF that shows the building in relation to public parking facilities and to the N Judah streetcar:

The closest parking lot is the Millberry Union parking lot at 500 Parnassus Avenue. The parking garage is right across the street from the building where we will have the group and is very accessible. Unfortunately, parking is $3.00/hour even on the weekends. But, if attendees have a disabled parking placard, they will be able to park for free.
