Patient Information
The mission of our clinic is to improve the cardiovascular health of women by offering evidence-based, sex-specific, personalized, and comprehensive care including primary and secondary prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular disease. It is our hope that caring for women in this way will help them to live longer, healthier lives.
We will start with a thorough evaluation of your risk for cardiovascular disease by performing a complete medical history and cardiac exam. This will become the basis of your unique prevention and treatment plan. Additional tests, such as labs or imaging studies, may be needed to completely understand your risk factors.
Symptoms
Women can have different symptoms than men that may indicate a cardiac problem. While women will often have the traditional symptom of chest pain, this "pain" may actually be a pressure, tightness, squeezing, burning, or something that isn't actually pain. In addition, women are more likely than men to report multiple other symptoms including:
- Shortness of breath
- Nausea/Vomiting
- Arm/shoulder pain, usually left-sided, but may be right-sided
- Abdominal pain
- Back pain or pain radiating to the back
- Neck pain
- Jaw pain
- Fatigue
