Heart Surgery Procedures

We offer a range of surgical services that are unparalleled in the Western U.S. and the Pacific Rim for diversity, technology, innovativeness, and outcomes.

  • Experience that matters: Our team of talented heart surgeons has performed more than 30,000 cardiac procedures
  • Speed where it counts: Heart transplant surgery with a rate of transplantation over three times faster than the national average
  • Practice makes perfect: Stanford has extensive clinical experience performing a variety of cardiac surgical procedures such as aortic valve replacement surgery

PARTNER Trial - Treatment for Severe Aortic Stenosis

Stanford participated in the PARTNER Trial, the first randomized clinical trial comparing the efficacy of using a transcatheter heart valve called "TAVI" - which is implanted percutaneously through an artery in the groin directly into the beating heart - with routine medical therapy, which includes aortic balloon valvuloplasty to relieve symptoms.
